Camurus: Record Results Dwarf CRL, But SORENTO Awaits

Record product sales and Brixadi re-acceleration, yet the U.S. CRL for Oclaiz and the SORENTO readout define the investment case for H2.

Return to Growth

Camurus commercial execution has never looked stronger. “Total revenues were SEK 702 million, up 4% year-on-year and 32% sequentially, with an operating result of SEK 293 million, corresponding to a 42% margin” — Fredrik Tiberg, CEO · 2026-07-15. The quarter marks a clear return to growth after a softer Q1, with product sales hitting a record SEK 528 million. Buvidal grew 12% year-on-year and 24% sequentially, and “Brixadi royalties in the U.S. increased 42%” — Richard Jameson, Head of Commercial or similar senior commercial role · 2026-07-15. The U.S. long-acting injectable segment is now estimated at ~$1.2B annualized and growing >30%, with Brixadi at ~30% share.

The story, however, is increasingly about what lies ahead. The company received a Complete Response Letter for its acromegaly NDA (Oclaiz) in June, a setback with a clear path to resubmission. CEO Fredrik Tiberg was quick to contextualize:

Importantly, this relates to observations during a previous GMP manufacturing inspection at a third-party site and not to the efficacy or safety or otherwise for CAM2029.

Fredrik Tiberg, CEO · 2026-07-15
Management reiterated that a new PDUFA target action date is the next milestone and that 2026 resubmission is “clearly an opportunity.”

The CRL and Regulatory Path

The CRL is a Complete Response Letter that the company has been managing carefully. Analysts probed the timing and the status of the contract manufacturer. Fredrik acknowledged “We are hopeful that we will have a resubmission confirmation as soon as possible” — Fredrik Tiberg, CEO · 2026-07-15, while noting that the FDA may conduct an inspection. This is a company-specific event, and it has reshaped near-term expectations. Despite the CRL, the company affirmed full-year guidance, a signal that the core Buvidal/Brixadi franchises remain healthy.

The U.S. delay also contrasts with the European momentum. “In Australia, at the end of the quarter, it was announced that the other long-acting buprenorphine product is being withdrawn from the market by the end of 2026” — Richard Jameson, Head of Commercial or similar senior commercial role · 2026-07-15. This is a new tailwind for Buvidal, and the company expects a rapid patient transition based on historical experience in the Nordics.

Catalyst-Rich Pipeline

Beyond the CRL, the pipeline holds multiple catalysts. The most critical is SORENTO, the phase III trial in GEP NET. Fredrik called it "the largest randomized study of a somatostatin receptor ligand in GEP-NET to date" and expects the 194 progression-free survival events to be reached in Q4, with a readout potentially before year-end. A positive outcome could open a "very meaningful new growth avenue."

The CAM2056 program (once-monthly semaglutide depot) is advancing to phase IIB, with an FDA meeting completed and a trial start expected in H2. Meanwhile, the Lilly collaboration expanded “Lilly expanded our collaboration by exercising its option to include amylin receptor agonists” — Fredrik Tiberg, CEO · 2026-07-15 — a validation of the FluidCrystal technology and a potential major value driver. The agonists expansion is a notable strategic move.

This is a departure from the prior narrative. In February, management had said “we maintain our goals currently, including the margin goals of approximately 50%” — Fredrik Tiberg, CEO · 2026-02-13. That goal now faces the dual pressure of a delayed U.S. launch and increased commercial spending. Yet the company’s cash position (SEK 4.1B) and the record royalty quarter suggest they can fund the next phase organically.

The U.K. funding issue, a recurring theme, is also showing signs of improvement. As Richard noted in November 2025, “it is growing the U.K. market. We are getting more patients. It's just slower than we anticipated.” — Richard Jameson, Commercial Officer · 2025-11-08 Now, with new NHS funding starting to flow, the trajectory appears better.

Overall, Camurus is at a pivotal juncture: record commercial results, a resolvable regulatory setback, and a string of binary catalysts. The market will be watching SORENTO and the Oclaiz resubmission closely.
