A Step-Change Quarter

In Q1 2026, Innodata Inc. delivered what CEO Jack Abuhoff called "record-setting by a wide margin." Revenue rose 54% year-over-year to $90.1M, beating consensus by 18%, while adjusted EBITDA nearly doubled to $25M (28% margin). The balance sheet ended with $117.4M in cash and no drawn credit. Total Revenue surpassed the company's entire annual revenue from just three years ago.

Q1 was a record quarter for Innodata Inc., and it was record setting by a wide margin. Revenue, adjusted gross profit, adjusted EBITDA, and cash all reached new highs.

The $51M Engagement and Diversification

The quarter also brought a major customer win: a set of engagements with one of the world's leading big tech companies, expected to generate $51M in revenue this year. This customer, which represented zero revenue twelve months ago, is slated to become Innodata's second largest customer — a direct validation of the diversification strategy management has been touting. In Q1, revenue from other tech customers grew 453% year-over-year, even as the largest account continued to grow in absolute dollars. "We believe this represents one of the strongest forms of customer diversification the company can deliver," added Abuhoff.

The Platform and Research Pivot

Beyond the headline numbers, Innodata is accelerating its move up the value chain — from data annotation to frontier labs and production-grade observability platform for agentic systems. The company launched its agent-evaluation and observability platform in beta, closed a $1M deal with a hyperscaler, and is in discussions with two leading hyperscalers about channel partnerships. Rahul Singhal, President, framed the thesis: “AI is moving from text to multimodal, from one-shot answers to multistep reasoning, from passive assistance to autonomous agents, and ultimately from purely digital tasks to embodied intelligence — <keyword id="194553f858">Physical AI</keyword>.” — Rahul Singhal, President and Chief Revenue Officer · 2026-05-08 The company also highlighted a research milestone: two ICML 2026 papers accepted, one earning a Spotlight designation.

Financials and Outlook

On the margin front, adjusted gross margin hit 47%, 7 points above target, and operating leverage is evident in Operating Margin. Management raised full-year 2026 revenue growth guidance to approximately 40% or more, with "several potentially large programs not included in our forecast." The shift to single-segment reporting simplifies the story. The company's confidence is bolstered by a growing pipeline across enterprise, federal (including a Missile Defense Agency contract under the SHIELD program), and frontier labs.

Prior-quarter commentary already hinted at this trajectory. In February, Abuhoff noted, “We are seeing enormous opportunity with a much larger set of customers. We think that, that's going to result in growth.” — Jack Abuhoff, Chairman and CEO · 2026-02-26 And in November, he emphasized, “So the relationship is strong and the business is stable.” — Jack Abuhoff, CEO · 2025-11-07 The current quarter proves these were not just promises.
