Ituran's Data Monetization Engine Starts to Hum

Record Q2 revenue and subscriber growth overshadow steady progress in big data, Credit Carbon, and IturanMob.
ITRN · Earnings Call · 2026-08-12

Record Quarter, Steady Execution

Ituran kicked off the summer with a blowout quarter. Revenue grew 21% to $104.8 million, with subscription fees up 25% to $79.8 million, representing 76% of total revenue. The subscriber base expanded by 41,000 to 2,711,000. EBITDA rose 24% to $28.5 million, and net income jumped 29% to $17.3 million, showing clear operating leverage. The company's recurring-revenue model is compounding nicely, as management notes: “We are very pleased to report an excellent second quarter for Ituran with record revenue and profitability with strong growth across every line of our income statement.” — Eyal Sheratzky, CEO · 2026-08-12 This is the third consecutive quarter of record results, and the trajectory is consistent with the long-term target of 220k-240k net adds annually, as management had reaffirmed a year ago: “We're still on track with our forecast of 220,000 to 240,000 subscribers.” — Eyal Sheratzky, Management · 2025-08-19

The Data Monetization Engine Takes Shape

Beyond the core telematics subscriptions, Ituran is steadily building a new revenue stream from its big data assets. The most concrete example is the recently concluded agreement with Israel's Ministry of Transportation, which Eyal Sheratzky described as a pilot that yielded a few million shekels: “This deal transaction was already concluded in the end in Q1, and it was not -- as we said, it was not a very large deal, but still, it was few millions of shekels and it was basically a need of a specific division in this ministry to look for places where trucks in Israel are making specific accidents.” — Eyal Sheratzky, CEO · 2026-08-12 The company is now in advanced discussions with additional government and public-transportation authorities, and the CEO is optimistic about closing larger deals. This initiative has been percolating for several quarters; management had earlier signaled its ambition to turn location data into a scalable product. On the consumer side, Credit Carbon (which lets EV drivers sell verified carbon savings) and IturanMob (a car-rental automation platform launched in the U.S.) are both progressing. Eli Kamer noted that market interest in IturanMob is rising: “So from the side of the marketing side, the interest of the market, we see higher and higher traction.” — Eli Kamer, CFO · 2026-08-12 However, he was quick to temper expectations for 2026: "This is a midterm project. It's not something that will contribute substantial amount in 2026 and also in 2027."

Our big data capabilities have significant long-term potential to support governments, transport authorities, commercial centers, OEMs and other customers, enabling them to make better decision based on vast amount of transportation data while creating revenue opportunities that can grow beyond our traditional subscription model.

OEM Expansion and Regional Growth Levers

The OEM channel remains the principal driver of subscriber growth. Ituran is actively ramping its partnership with Stellantis on the Fiat Strada program and expanding existing relationships with Nissan, Renault, General Motors, Yamaha, and BMW. In Brazil, motorcycle telematics is proving to be a strong secondary engine. Management had previously highlighted the market's size and their early entry: “First of all, this market in Brazil is very, very big, and we did not touch this segment until about a year ago until the moment that we understood, or we developed the right device that can be very productive.” — Eyal Sheratzky, CEO · 2026-03-05 The Yamaha and BMW OEM deals are now "ramping up very impressive," and the company is in discussions with additional motorcycle manufacturers. The UBI (usage-based insurance) product remains primarily an Israeli play, with the CEO acknowledging that the insurance industry is slow to adopt new methodologies: "It's changing, but it's changing slow." The company sees big data as a way to make UBI more attractive to insurers by providing aggregated driving insights without requiring hardware installation.

Capital Returns Full Steam

Ituran continues to reward shareholders generously. The Board declared a quarterly dividend of $0.50 per share ($10 million) and executed $3 million in buybacks, leaving about $10 million under authorization. The company ended the quarter with $103.7 million in net cash and no debt, and generated a record $32.2 million in operating cash flow. The steady return of capital, combined with the growth investments, underscores management's confidence in the long-term thesis. In summary, Ituran's quarter was a textbook execution of its strategy: steady subscriber growth from OEM deals, margin expansion from operating leverage, and a disciplined push into adjacent data-driven businesses. While the new initiatives are unlikely to move the needle in 2026, they represent optionality for 2027 and beyond. The company remains on track to deliver another year of record results, and the market is slowly beginning to price in the optionality embedded in its data assets.
