Kambi Finally Sells the Moat Instead of Describing It
A third straight quarter of growth, a Las Vegas foothold, and the quiet disappearance of the one question analysts asked for three calls running
KAMBI.ST · Earnings Call · 2026-11-04
A turnaround that has stopped being a bounce
Kambi's Q3 2026 is not interesting because revenue rose 23% to EUR 46 million, or because adjusted EBITA (acq) tripled from EUR 3.0 million to EUR 7.9 million. It is interesting because this is the third consecutive quarter of year-on-year revenue and profit growth — the point at which a recovery stops being a narrative and becomes a base. Werner Becher opened by calling it an “upward trend” — Werner Becher, CEO · 2026-11-04, and for once the language matches the arithmetic. The engine was the operator trading margin: 11.9%, the second highest on record, flattered by a strong close to the FIFA World Cup. But there is a mechanical hangover here that management had pre-announced in July, and it showed up. The Turnover Index grew only 3% year on year despite new launches, a stronger Colombian peso and the World Cup itself — because fat margins suppress player turnover, and because FDJ UNITED and LeoVegas took markets with them. David Kenyon put the tax plainly: this is the price of a very good summer. Underneath, the parts that don't move with sports results all improved: headcount from 995 to 939, the cost discipline story intact, EUR 40.9 million of closing cash and more than EUR 13 million of buybacks year to date.Nevada: the moat gets a mailing address
The commercial headline was a 10-year partnership with Station Casinos — roughly 20 properties, including Red Rock and Durango, moving both retail and online onto Kambi's Turnkey Sportsbook and, critically, onto Kambi's own player account management platform. This is the single most company-unique thing in the print. Nevada does not appear anywhere in the market-wide keyword set this quarter; it is Kambi's alone, and it ranks first in its own keyword list. The sequencing is the actual story. Nevada license in early 2025. PAM capability bought through a source-code acquisition about twelve months ago, before there was a customer — a chicken-and-egg bet that analysts questioned on the November 2025 call. Then the signature in August 2026. Now the field test begins next month, with revenue this year and full rollout into all ~20 properties in 2027. Becher was explicit that the process is not a bottleneck: “No, clearly no... it will start generating revenues already this year” — Werner Becher, CEO · 2026-11-04 — framing the field test as Gaming Board oversight and compliance reporting rather than a commercial gate. Set that against where this stood a year ago, when the same CEO was still shopping: “we are in talks with several customers out there. Some of them have EUR 100 million plus GGR.” — Werner Becher, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) · 2025-11-05 The option on PAM has been exercised at a real customer. That is worth more than the near-term Station revenue, because Nevada's regulatory standard is the one other jurisdictions copy. The AI story graduates from adjectives to KPIs
The AI trading system is now processing about 85% of all bets, with 90% targeted by year end. More usefully, management finally attached numbers to the product claims: almost 60% of AI-traded bets accepted with zero delay via the new dynamic bet delay, an estimated 18 million additional accepted bets this year, and NBA bet rejections down 32% within weeks of migration. A year ago the pitch was defensive — AI as neither threat nor easily replicable; now it is measurable, and the rebrand ("powerful network, proven edge") is a claim backed by a network of 70-plus partners, ~EUR 17 billion of turnover and 1.5 billion bets a year. One disclosure deserves more attention than it got in the Q&A. Kambi quantified an AI consultant arrangement paid partly on success fees — and that exact theme is fresh in the market-wide top ten this quarter, so this is not boilerplate. Becher called it “ordinary course of business, although we have implemented this in-house with our own employees at Kambi” — Werner Becher, CEO · 2026-11-04, while the CFO confirmed the IAS 37 trigger and that over EUR 10 million of in-house cost has already been capitalized on the asset. It is a good-news disclosure dressed as a liability note — but it also means the next leg of margin improvement is partly bought, not purely built. Alongside it, Odds Feed+ is now roughly 8-9% of revenue and, by management's own account, the fastest-growing line in the business. The thing management stopped talking about
Prediction markets are gone. Not softened — gone. The prediction market theme ranked fourth in the company's keyword set in 20261 and sixth in 20253, and Polymarket questions were fielded on three consecutive calls, including February 2026 and July 2026. In July the answer was pure deflection: “30% of the U.S. population is living in Texas and California, where sports betting is not regulated yet. I think you have your answer where they made their 30%.” — Werner Becher, Chief Executive Officer · 2026-07-22 This quarter, not a single question, and not a single mention. Two readings. The benign one: Brazil crowded it out. The more revealing one: with a licensed Las Vegas foothold and an owned PAM, Kambi no longer needs the answer. The competitor it dismissed is now a competitor it can out-regulate. Brazil was the call's live controversy. Becher was blunt that the ban has damaged trust in the country well beyond gaming, citing “more than 1,000 illegal betting and gaming sites online right now in Brazil without any government oversight” — Werner Becher, CEO · 2026-11-04 and a Supreme Court decision postponed yet again — the same Supreme Court uncertainty that has become a market-wide motif. Management assumes zero Brazilian revenue in Q4 and would "switch them on in a second" if the courts reverse. The guidance is the tell — and 2027 is the argument
The revised outlook of around EUR 26 million looks like a raise against a EUR 23-27 million range. The tape of the Q&A says otherwise: it implies just under EUR 5 million of Q4 EBITA, roughly a 30% year-on-year decline. Kenyon laid out every component without flinching:That is a company guiding the midpoint up while describing a materially weaker fourth quarter than the headline implies — and refusing to give 2027 guidance at all, on the grounds that no board-approved budget exists. The honest read: 2027 is a World Cup anniversary comp, a LeoVegas hole, and a paused FDJ migration. Asked directly whether FDJ's in-house pause helped, Kenyon conceded “all migrations are paused” — Werner Becher, CEO · 2026-11-04 — helpful for the 2027 revenue base, unhelpful for anyone modelling certainty. The re-rating case rests on two things the market can now underwrite: Station Casinos in the gold-standard regulatory jurisdiction, and AI trading KPIs that are finally quantified rather than asserted. Against that sits a Q4 bridge that gets worse the closer you look, and a Latin American market where the largest single country just lost its license to operate. The Latin America bet isn't broken — but for the first time in several quarters, it is no longer the reason to own the stock. In addition to the Brazil, which is around -- going to be around EUR 1 million impact, then you have also the migration to the LeoVegas markets that has around EUR 2 million impact... Mohegan Sun, which was some termination fees or transition fees, which ended at the end of Q3. That's another 600,000.
